Our story
One Forty One coffee began with two grad students and an air popper. One of our first moments of connection was about our love of quality coffee. We strongly value the type of high quality product that can only be achieved through small batch roasting. Our focus is on providing locally roasted coffee to those who share our love for the entirety of the coffee process.
We are located in Iowa City, IA where we attend graduate school. Our hope is to connect with other local small businesses and coffee drinkers in our area.
Our lives
We are DorisAnn McGinnis and Jacob McLaughlin, two doctoral candidates at the University of Iowa.
Jacob is currently in his 5th year of his Physics PhD studying experimental plasma physics. His hands on experience in the lab has helped inspire his curiosity in the coffee roasting process.
DorisAnn is entering into her 4th year of her Counseling Psychology PhD studying substance use disorders and their affect on how people find meaning in their lives especially related to work. One of the ways she finds meaning in her own life is through exploration of coffee.
We share many hobbies outside of coffee roasting including cooking, hiking, camping, and petting as many animals as we can find (including our own dog, Liza).
